"Eros Electronica"
(c)1997 J.F. Kelley

He's staring with a puzzled frown;
He sighs, his shoulders sagging down;
This techno-wonder watch, his pride,
Takes him on a crazy ride.

This, the watch that She admired,
Has in it's little brain conspired
To twist and mix the date and time
Beyond all logic, reason, rhyme.

Disoriented there he waits,
while questioning the fickle fates --
Figets fingers, taps and drums,
While his computer blythely hums.

He'd typed his plea, and with a sigh,
On e-mail wings had let them fly.
And now he waits, his wristwatch mocks,
As do his motely crew of clocks.

He hears a beep, his heart is pounding
"You have new mail", computer's sounding.
His mouse a blur, he clicks The Click...
...it's e-mail spam; his heart is sick.

"Why has she left me on my own
With sins for which I must atone?
Does the one I love the most,
like my watch, give up the ghost?"
